Have a question?
Q1: When is the conference?
NUS Global Citizen Conference (NGCC) 2019 will be held from 23rd June 2019 to 29th June 2019 at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore.
Q2: Who can attend this conference?
Any matriculated university student is eligible to apply for this conference.
Q3: What does the price include?
The price is inclusive of all accommodation fees and all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), except for lunch and dinner on the 25th June 2019.
Q4: Where is the accommodation?
Delegates who applied for accommodations will be hosted at the residential college rooms at NUS University Town. More details on accommodation arrangements will be released after registration has closed.
Q5: Do I have to stay at the provided accommodation?
Yes. You are highly discouraged from staying elsewhere for multiple reasons. Firstly, on some days participants might have to stay up late at night with your group members to discuss certain conference-related things. Secondly, activities start early every day, around 8:00 a.m., so staying on campus will make it easier to be on time for the activities. Thirdly, it will be more convenient staying on campus as participants might have to change into appropriate attires between activities. Fourthly, staying together will facilitate bonding between you and your fellow groupmates by encouraging interaction with people of varying backgrounds.
Q6: How do I apply for this conference?
Simply click the “Join Us” tab located at the top right-hand corner of this page and follow the link to register as a participant. OR click here.
Q7: Do I need to buy my own air tickets?
Yes. The registration fee is only inclusive of accommodation and meals, so please book your own flight tickets.
Q8: Do I need to buy my own health and travel insurance?
Yes. Please purchase your own personal health and travel insurance. Our organisation (NUSSU GRU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) will not be liable for any injuries, incidents, delays, etc. arising from any cause in connection with the conference.
Q9: Is financial aid available?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide the participants with any form of financial aid. This conference is a student-based event and we are not fully-funded by the university or any of its offices.
Q10: When should I arrive?
Please arrive before 1:00 p.m. (UTC+08:00) on 15th July 2018. To facilitate your arrival planning and flight booking, do refer to Q22 for details on the timings of the airport transfer provided from Changi Airport to the National University of Singapore (NUS).

All meals catered are Halal-certified and vegetarian meals will be provided for those with special dietary requirements.
Q17: May I have the detailed schedule for the conference?
The detailed schedule for the conference will be uploaded on the website at a later date when registration is complete. For now, there is a brief itinerary on our website here.
Q18: Which currency should I transfer the payment in?
Payment should be transferred in Singapore dollars (SGD $).
Q19: What are the ways to transfer payment?
International participants have two options to make payment. They can either use a bank transfer or pay the exact amount (in Singapore Dollars) upon arrival on 15th July 2018. For local participants in Singapore, they can only use a bank transfer to pay their fee.
For more information, you can call your bank or the bank of the person who is financing your trip and ask them how the transfer can be made.
Also, do account for the transaction costs when making payment; make sure the actual amount that gets deposited into our bank account is equivalent to the full participant fee after your payment method deducts the third-party fee they charge. In other words, follow this formula:
(Amount your payment method will charge) + (Participant fee) = Total amount you have to pay in SGD $.
Q20: Which bank is preferable for payment?
Any bank through which you can successfully make payment is acceptable. If in doubt, you could first make a test transfer of SGD$1 to our bank account through your chosen bank and notify us of your transfer. We will then inform you if it has reached us successfully. Following which, you could proceed with the full transfer through that bank.
Q21: Due to unforeseen circumstances, if I cannot make it for the conference, can I get refunded?
No. Unfortunately, once you have paid, a refund is not possible. However, it is possible to transfer your attendance to someone else. Do contact email@example.com for clarification on the aforementioned issue.
Q22: Will there be someone to pick us up at the airport when we arrive?
There will be airport transfers available on 23rd June 2019 from Singapore Changi Airport to NUS. The buses will ferry participants directly to the designated accommodation within the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus, where registration for the conference as well as rooms will be held from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (timings are in UTC+08:00). Details of the bus timings will be announced at a later date.
